The following information is a general guide only. Please follow specific dose and usage instructions from Fertility First nursing staff at the time of treatment. Luveris is an injection used in IVF/ICSI cycles. Luveris should be stored in the original package in a cool, dry place, below 25°C. DO NOT store in the refrigerator or the freezer Do not use Luveris after the expiry date. Use the preparation immediately after the Luveris powder has been dissolved in the solvent as Luveris does not contain a preservative.
Wash and dry your hands thoroughly Assemble everything you will need. Find a clean area and lay everything out.
Remove the protective cap from the solvent bottle (fluid). Fix the bigger needle (with green tip) onto the syringe. Remove needle cover and draw up 1ml of air into the syringe. Needle inject the air into the bottle that contains the fluid (after first removing the protective cap from the fluid bottle) Without removing the needle from the bottle, pull back on the plunger and draw up all the fluid from the bottle. Withdraw the needle from the now empty fluid bottle and re-insert the same (green tip) needle into the bottle of powder and push down on the plunger so all the fluid is in the bottle with the powder. Gently swirl without removing the syringe and wait until the powder to dissolve (the powder should dissolve instantly). Do not shake the vial. Using the same green needle tip, gently draw all the solution back into the syringe. You should have 1ml in the syringe.
Luveris is given as a subcutaneous injection (under your skin) in the lower abdominal area or thigh. Change the needle for the fine bore needle with the grey tip. Clean the injection area with an alcohol swab. Pinch a fold of skin between your thumb and forefinger and insert the needle fully at a 90° angle of the syringe Keep the needle in the skin for 10 seconds after injecting and then withdraw the needle and discard immediately into your sharps container.
Q: What should I do if there is a large bubble in the solution? A: If any bubbles are present in the syringe, hold the syringe vertically with the needle pointing upwards and gently tap on the syringe until the air collects at the top. Gently push the plunger until the air bubbles are gone. Please be advised that when in doubt or if you have any questions or concerns, it is always best to contact the Nurses at the clinic and speak to them directly. Please note that the after-hours number is strictly reserved for emergencies only.
Discover how Fertility First can help.
Fertility First is the only Australian fertility clinic that routinely scans for sperm DNA damage in male patients, and explores all treatment options for patients. With a range of fertility treatments available at our Sydney clinic, find out how our team of dedicated fertility Specialists can help you conceive.
As a Doctor-owned Medical Practice, our fertility and IVF treatment costs do not need to cover overheads and/or shareholder dividends, all of which have to come out of the income derived from patients’ treatment cycle fees at other fertility clinics in Sydney.
From the 1st October 2022, the NSW Government announced a rebate of $2,000 in OOP expenses for all eligible patients. Fertility First is pleased to support the NSW Government’s fertility rebate at our Sydney fertility clinic.
Fertility First is privately owned, which means we can place more focus on our patients. We offer a holistic approach to fertility and believe that it’s important to minimise the invasiveness of the fertility testing process and only carry out the necessary investigations, maximising your chance of a successful outcome. We offer extensive preliminary fertility testing, including Halosperm Assay.
We were one of the first Sydney fertility clinics to offer a donor sperm and donor egg program, thanks to our partnership with Central IVF.
Choosing the right fertility clinic in Sydney is a very important decision. You should consider factors like success rates, clinic location and appointment times, fertility treatment costs, repor with the Fertility Specialist and what treatment options are available.
