Does endometriosis ever go away?

For a lot of women, endometriosis will go away when they reach menopause and their periods stop.

Until menopause, symptoms of endometriosis are controlled by the use of medicine and surgery.

During pregnancy, the endometriosis growths may shrink slightly and cause fewer problems after delivery, however, many women with endometriosis do struggle to fall pregnant and it is highly recommended that the growths are removed via surgery to improve the chances of achieving an ongoing pregnancy.

The reason why endometriosis tends to subside during menopause is because it’s a condition that is ultimately exacerbated by estrogen, therefore when estrogen production slows during this time, the problem will start to subside.
