Types of Fertility Treatment
At Fertility First, we understand that the journey toward starting a family can be both exciting and challenging. Our approach combines professional advice, thorough assessments, and leading-edge assisted reproductive technologies tailored to the unique needs of each couple. Our goal is to enhance fertility and increase the chances of conception while minimising disruption to your daily life. We believe that every individual’s journey is unique, and we take the time to conduct comprehensive evaluations before starting any treatment, ensuring you receive the support that best suits your circumstances.
Donor Sperm
For some couples, using donated sperm may be their chance of achieving pregnancy. Fertility First has been very fortunate to have a consistent supply of donor sperm immediately available for the past 15 years.
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
A pregnancy rate of 10 to 40% is expected, depending on the woman’s age and the number and quality of the embryos transferred, IVF is one of the most popular forms of fertility treatment available.
Donor Eggs
Women struggling to fall pregnant may not necessarily have the same success with their own eggs, nor may they find it easy to find egg donors in Australia. Fortunately, Fertility First offers a donor program to assist.
Ovulation Induction (OI)
This is a treatment that uses medications, either tablets or injections, to stimulate the ovary to produce a mature egg. It is suitable if the only fertility problem is a lack of spontaneous ovulation. We expect a pregnancy rate of 15 to 40%, depending on the woman’s age.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI is a fertility procedure where a mans best sperm is injected into the uterus. To ensure the best possible results, IUI combines a small amount of ovarian stimulation, to maximise the maturity of the egg and the lining of the uterus. A pregnancy rate around 27% is expected*.
EmbryoGen & BlastGen
Fertility First has been endorsed by the Sydney Local Health District Ethics Review Committee at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. After receiving approval from the TGA to be an Authorised Prescriber, Fertility First patients now has access to provide EmbryoGen and BlastGen treatment.

FAQ's about Fertility Treatments
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to determining the right fertility treatment. It depends on a variety of factors specific to you and your partner (if applicable). After reviewing your history and fertility tests, we will discuss the different fertility treatment options.
The cost of fertility treatments in Sydney can vary depending on several factors, including:
- The specific type of treatment: In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is generally the most expensive option, while Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is less costly.
- The clinic you choose: Different clinics may have varying pricing structures.
- Your individual needs: Additional medications or procedures required during treatment can add to the overall cost.

Success rates for fertility treatments depend on your individual circumstances. There are two key factors:
- The cause of infertility: Different treatments address specific issues, so the success rate depends on what’s causing your infertility.
- The type of treatment: Different procedures have varying success rates.
For more details on specific treatment success rates, explore our individual fertility treatment pages. However, these are general benchmarks. Always consult a doctor for personalised advice to understand your unique chances of success with each treatment option.
Fertility treatments range from minimally invasive procedures to more complex interventions. Here’s a breakdown of some common options:
Less Invasive Fertility Treatments:
- Ovulation Induction: Medications are used to stimulate ovulation in women who don’t ovulate regularly or at all.
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): Washed sperm is inserted directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation, bypassing the cervix and potentially increasing the chances of fertilisation.
Fertility Medications:
- Fertility medications: These can be used in conjunction with other treatments or on their own to regulate ovulation or stimulate egg production.
Surgical Procedures:
- Laparoscopy: A minimally invasive surgery to diagnose and potentially treat pelvic problems that might be causing infertility, like endometriosis.
Advanced Reproductive Technology (ART):
- In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF): Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm in a laboratory dish, and then viable embryos are implanted back into the uterus.
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): A specialised technique used during IVF where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg to assist fertilisation, particularly helpful for male infertility issues.
- Donor Sperm or Donor Eggs: Sperm or eggs from a donor can be used in conjunction with IVF if there are issues with the intended parents’ own sperm or eggs.
- Surrogacy: An embryo is implanted in the uterus of a gestational carrier who carries the pregnancy and delivers the baby.
