The Fertility First Approach

Fertility First was established in 1997 with the goal of offering personalised fertility treatment. We provide professional advice, assessment, and treatment, coupled with leading-edge reproductive technology. This commitment led us to being one of the first facilities in Australia to provide a donor egg program. We are also a recognised donor sperm bank under NSW legislation.

A sanctuary-like IVF and fertility clinic in Sydney

Our fertility clinic is based in Hurstville, NSW, in a converted federation home. Our vision was to create a calm, sanctuary-like environment as far away from the cold clinical rooms of a hospital as possible. We want you to feel welcomed and relaxed.

We are located only 16km south of the Sydney CBD, conveniently close to Hurstville train station and within walking distance from Hurstville Private Hospital.

What to expect at your first visit

We structure our appointments to avoid waiting times, as we believe being able to proceed with your treatment when it’s needed is integral to success.

If you are conceiving as a heterosexual couple, we encourage both of you to attend the first appointment. This allows our fertility specialist to perform a comprehensive fertility assessment that covers both male and female factors and avoids unnecessary delays in identifying the right treatment approach for your situation.

Fertility testing

To make your experience as smooth as possible, please ensure the following are ready by your first appointment in regards to both yourself and your partner if conceiving as a couple:

  • A valid referral either from your GP (typically valid for 12 months) or another medical specialist (typically valid for 3 months)
  • A list of current medications and full medical history (usually can be obtained from your GP)
  • The results of any previous fertility testing already performed
  • Records of any previous reproductive treatment cyles

Choosing a fertility clinic

Key things to consider before making your first fertility appointment

  • Consider how long you have been trying to conceive naturally.
  • Consider what kind of fertility support you are looking for?
  • Check if you are eligible for Medicare rebates.
  • When looking for a fertility clinic, consider what type of patient care you would like.
  • When considering a fertility clinic, factor in it's location, reviews and fertility treatment options available.

FAQ's

Does Medicare contribute to my appointments with Fertility First?

Medicare will contribute to part of your fertility consultations with us if you have a valid referral and are Medicare eligible. For more information about Medicare and our fee structure, visit here

Is there parking on-site at Fertility First?

While we do not have on-site parking at our clinic, there is street parking around. We are located in a residential area and close to the hospital, so we recommend to allow a few extra minutes to find a car park.

What is your policy for cancelling or rescheduling appointments?

Due to the high demand for appointments, we require 24 hours notice of cancellation so that your appointment time can be given to another patient. Cancelling within 24 hours of your appointment or failing to attend attracts a cancellation penalty equivalent to your full consultation fee.
