You've done everything right. So why isn't it working?

You've done everything right. So why isn't it working?

If you've been through one, or several, unsuccessful IVF cycles, you're not alone. Many of the patients who come to Fertility First have already tried elsewhere. They arrive feeling exhausted, unheard, or unsure whether they're on the right path.

A second opinion isn't about starting over. It's about taking a fresh, expert look at your case to understand what may have been missed, what could be done differently, and whether there's a better way forward.

A bulk-billed second opinion might be right for you if:

  • You've had one or more unsuccessful IVF or fertility treatment cycles
  • You've been told there are "no clear answers" or your case is unexplained
  • You feel rushed, dismissed, or that your questions aren't being heard
  • Your current treatment plan hasn't been reviewed or adjusted recently
  • You're considering IVF for the first time and want expert reassurance before committing
  • You want to explore whether other diagnostic tests, treatment protocols, or approaches might be appropriate for you

You deserve answers. You deserve a plan that's truly built around you.

Bring your records from your existing fertility journey and your second opinion consultation is bulk billed. A valid GP referral is required.

What happens in your second opinion consultation

Comprehensive case review

Before your appointment, we'll ask you to send through your previous test results, treatment history, and any IVF cycle records. Anne personally reviews this in detail before you meet. Bring your records from your existing fertility journey and we'll bulk bill your consultation, so cost isn't a barrier to getting the answers you deserve

In-depth consultation

Anne will sit down with you to talk through your full fertility journey - what's been tried, what's worked, what hasn't, and what may have been overlooked. You'll have time to ask every question that's been weighing on you.

A clear, personalised path forward

You'll leave with an honest assessment of your situation, recommendations for any additional investigations that may help, and a clear view of your treatment options, including whether continuing with your current approach makes sense, or whether a different strategy could improve your chances.

There's no obligation to continue treatment at Fertility First. This is about giving you the information and confidence to make the right decision for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to book a second opinion?

A GP referral is recommended to access Medicare rebates on your consultation, but it isn't required to book. Our team can help you with this when you make your appointment.

Is the second opinion appointment bulk billed?

Yes. When you bring your records from your existing fertility care, Anne will bulk bill your second opinion consultation, with a valid GP referral. This applies to patients currently with another fertility provider seeking a fresh perspective. Patients already within the Genea network should speak with their current specialist about next steps.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring any previous fertility test results, IVF cycle summaries, ultrasound or imaging reports, and a list of any medications or supplements you're currently taking. The more information Anne has, the more thorough her review can be.

Will I have to start treatment from scratch?

Not necessarily. A second opinion is about reviewing your case - not restarting it. In some instances, Anne may simply confirm your current plan is appropriate. In others, she may recommend adjustments or alternative approaches. The decision is always yours.

Can I see Dr Anne Clark via telehealth?

Yes. Anne sees second opinion patients both in-clinic at Hurstville and via telehealth, so distance doesn't have to be a barrier.

How long does the appointment take?

Second opinion consultations are typically longer than standard appointments to allow for a thorough review of your history. Please allow up to an hour.

What if I want to continue treatment at my current clinic?

That's completely fine. A second opinion is yours to use however you wish. Many patients take Anne's insights back to their existing specialist; others choose to continue care with us. There's no pressure either way.
