Experience and qualifications

She is an internationally-trained obstetrician and gynaecologist, and began her specialisation into fertility and reproductive medicine in 1985. Dr Clark’s career in fertility medicine began when the field was still very new - her registrar training was undertaken at New Zealand’s first IVF unit in the National Women’s Hospital, and she graduated from medicine just one year after the world’s first IVF baby was born in 1978.

Dr Clark became the first female doctor in Australia to obtain the highly-regarded Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) in 1994. The CREI is the highest level of attainment for fertility specialists, awarded by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists after an additional three years of advanced subspecialist training.

In addition to her clinical work and caring for her fertility patients, Dr Clark is regularly invited to share her expertise both locally and internationally, speaking on issues such as fertility preservation, male factor infertility, PCOS, and the medical management of IVF cycles and challenging cases.

In 2015, Dr Clark was appointed by the Federal Minister of Health to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) embryo research licensing committee for her expertise in assisted reproductive technology.

Additional appointments

Dr Clark is one of the directors of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) and an executive on the IVF Directors Group, a subcommittee of the FSA.

Outside of work

Though Dr Clark is committed to caring for her patients even outside of regular business hours to maximise their chances of success with their fertility treatment, she is also passionate about design and loves spending time with her family.

FAQ's

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

Yes, a current referral is required to claim Medicare benefits for your consultation and treatment. Without a valid referral, you won't be able to claim from Medicare, which means your out-of-pocket expenses will be significantly higher. Please note that doctors cannot legally backdate referrals, so it's important to arrange this with your GP before attending your appointment.

What should I expect at my first visit?

We structure our appointments to avoid waiting times, as we believe being able to proceed with your treatment when it's needed is integral to success.

If you're conceiving as a heterosexual couple, we encourage both of you to attend the first appointment. This allows our fertility specialist to perform a comprehensive fertility assessment that covers both male and female factors and avoids unnecessary delays in identifying the right treatment approach for your situation.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

To make your experience as smooth as possible, please ensure the following are ready by your first appointment (for both yourself and your partner if conceiving as a couple):

  • A valid referral either from your GP (typically valid for 12 months) or another medical specialist (typically valid for 3 months)
  • A list of current medications and full medical history (usually can be obtained from your GP)
  • The results of any previous fertility testing already performed
  • Records of any previous reproductive treatment cycles
What is your policy for cancelling or rescheduling appointments?

Due to the high demand for appointments, we require 24 hours notice of cancellation so that your appointment time can be given to another patient. Cancelling within 24 hours of your appointment or failing to attend attracts a cancellation penalty equivalent to your full consultation fee.
