We hold collaborative agreements with two prestigious international providers - Central Egg Bank and Egg Bank Asia.
Through these partnership agreements, we can provide high-quality donor eggs to our patients without requiring them to travel internationally. This carries significant advantages in expanding your choice of egg donors, reducing the costs associated with accessing donor eggs, and improves overall accessibility.
The Central Egg Bank donor screening process includes a thorough review of the donor’s medical history (including sexual history, extended family history and the medical history of any existing children), physical examination, assessment for infectious diseases, and genetic screening (including cystic fibrosis, fragile X syndrome, and spinal muscular atrophy) as well as implications counselling.
Fertility First is the exclusive Australian partner of Egg Bank Asia, providing you with high-quality eggs from Asian and Chinese donors. Their screening process meets Australian requirements for egg donors, including a full medical and sexual history (including family history and medical details of any existing children), physical exam, screening for infectious diseases, and advanced genetic carrier testing.
During your initial medical consultation with our fertility specialists, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your medical history and arrange necessary screening tests, such as blood tests. These initial tests are important to ensure our donor egg program is the right treatment option for you.
Once the evaluation of your initial tests is complete, along with counselling being finalised, we design a treatment plan for your donor egg program. At this time, we will provide you with consent forms along with a list of available egg donors. You will have access to de-identified donor profiles, including their lifestyle habits, physical traits, likes and dislikes, even personal beliefs and values.
Once the donor egg is confirmed by the egg bank of your choice, and the eggs have safely arrived at our clinic, our team will be in contact with you to discuss commencing treatment. This involves the handling and processing required to ensure the donor egg is ready for use in the respective treatment cycle. You'll also have the opportunity to discuss any additional preparations you may need for implantation.
Once all documentation is confirmed, the patient may proceed with treatment. The embryo transfer, akin to a pap smear, involved placing the embryo into the uterus. Fourteen to sixteen days post-transfer, a pregnancy test will be conducted. Specific post-transfer instructions will be provided by the fertility specialists.
At Fertility First, it's always personal.

The need for donor eggs in IVF treatment can vary depending on individual circumstances. While some patients may be able to conceive using their own eggs, others may benefit from donor eggs.
To determine if donor eggs are the right choice for you, it’s essential to consult with our fertility specialists. They can assess your individual situation, discuss your options, and provide personalised recommendations. We also guide you through the donor egg process, answer your questions, and help you make informed decisions about your fertility journey.
In Australia, there is no strict age cut-off to be a donor egg recipient. The more important factors will be your overall health and ability to safely carry the pregnancy if you are a woman intending to undergo the embryo transfer yourself.
While there can be a waiting list for donor eggs at some fertility clinics, we are proud to offer a program that avoids extended waiting periods. Through our donor egg program at our Sydney fertility clinic, you have access to premium donor eggs without the drawn-out wait times often associated with other clinics.
Our egg bank partners, Central Egg Bank and Egg Bank Asia, provide packages that vary in price depending on how many eggs are included. You will also need to consider shipping costs and a cycle fee. The team at Fertility First can discuss the cost options with you further.

While our donor program can provide access to a diverse range of egg donors, family members and/or partners can also donate their eggs for use in your treatment cycle. Similar to egg donors recruited through an egg bank clinic and not personally known to you, a known donor will have to undergo counselling, and will need to consult a doctor for a full medical assessment before we can consider using their donor eggs for your treatment.

An immature egg is an oocyte that has not reached meiotic competency, meaning it hasn’t reached the first stages of meiotic division.

Usually out of the eggs retrieved, we expect approximately 80% to be mature, and of those, between 60 to 80% will fertilise normally. This is perfectly normal.

We just assumed we would fall pregnant immediately and it did not make sense to us that while we were struggling, people around us were falling pregnant everywhere we looked…
